Some of the Windows in the church were created by A.J. Davies (Archibald John, but always referred to as A. J.) of Bromsgrove Guild Ltd. . He learned his craft at the Birmingham Municipal School of Art, where he was taught by Henry Payne, an eminent Arts & Crafts stained glass artist, who in turn had been trained by Christopher Whall, the leading artist of that Arts & Crafts group. Davies established his own studio in 1904. However, a few years later, he was invited to join the Bromsgrove Guild of Applied Arts and establish a stained glass studio in their premises. You can learn more about A.J. Davies in the book - The Stained Glass Windows of A J Davies of the Bromsgrove Guild, Worcestershire by Roy Albutt. The book has 48 plates of A. J. Davies stained glass windows – but does not include pictures of the Hermitage windows.
Robert Eberhard has put together catalogue of stained glass windows in the south of England, and this link is to the windows in our church.
